Joke of the day My boss told me to have a good day… so I went home Weekend Itinerary Idea https://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/visit/devon/lydford-gorge Lydford GorgeThe deepest river gorge in the South West, with 30m high waterfallLydford, near Tavistock, Devon, EX20 4BH Quick Facts ✅ Lydford Gorge is the deepest river gorge in the South West (Devon, England). ✅ It’s managed by the National Trust, so the paths are good, but expect some slippery bits. ✅ Highlights:Whitelady Waterfall, 30m high, stunning year-round.Devil’s Cauldron, dramatic whirlpool spot, super powerful when the river’s high. ✅ Legends: Old stories say the gorge was once a hideout for outlaws and smugglers. ✅ Best time: Spring and summer for full waterfall power and lush greens, but autumn is epic too for moody photos. ✔️ Start Point:Main National Trust car park (PL16 0JL).Grab a map from the visitor centre the gorge is a loop but has a few tricky bits. ✔️ Must-Do Walk:Full Gorge Walk (~3 miles, 2–3 hours): Whitelady Waterfall → Devil’s Cauldron → back along the top rim path.Some steep sections, good boots needed. ✔️ Pro Tip:Do it clockwise: Start with the waterfall so you’re fresh for the trickier Devil’s Cauldron boardwalks.If it’s wet, the rocks get slippery,hold the rails.Stop at the viewing platform above the gorge for epic pics. ✔️ Nice Touch:Bring a flask or pack a picnic, there’s a riverside spot near the waterfall.Great date move: promise her “the UK’s mini Grand Canyon” vibe then feed her a biscuit at the waterfall.
